CHRISTUS Health Quality Report
Percent of Surgery Patients Whose Preventative Antibiotic(s) are Stopped Within 24 hours After Surgery
Number of surgical patients per 100 who received preventative antibiotic(s) within the recommended time before surgery begins (one hour for most antibiotics). Getting an antibiotic within one hour before surgery reduces the risk of wound infections.
The data used to compute the indicator percentage for the system overall and each individual facility was collected from January 2009 to March 2009.
