Children’s Hospital of San Antonio announced today that Baylor College of Medicine has reached an agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) to participate in their PPO plan. The plan goes into effect Wednesday, July 15.

“As our academic partner, Baylor College of Medicine has spent more than two years building a dynamic team of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists from all over the U.S. and beyond, who specialize in a full-range of services for children. We are happy to announce that this incredibly talented group of physicians now participates in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas PPO network,” said Elias Neujahr, President of the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

“We remain fully dedicated to our goal of building a world-class free-standing children’s hospital for all the children we are privileged to serve. Baylor College of Medicine has recruited many outstanding physicians and now their experience and knowledge is in network with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas,” Neujahr said.

“This agreement will enable Baylor physicians at the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio to care for more children in the area,” said Dr. Stephen Sigworth, Vice President and Chief Medical Director for Baylor College of Medicine. “It is an important development as we continue to build on the services provided to children in the San Antonio community.”
