Specializing in vascular and endovascular neurosurgery, Dr. Paul J. Schmitt works hand in hand with Brain and Spine Center specialists to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to patients 18 and older in the Coastal Bend and beyond. Dr. Schmitt is known for his exemplary surgical skills in the treatment of cerebral aneurysms, carotid and spinal stenosis, tumors and ischemic strokes. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

As a recognized expert in neurological conditions and surgical procedures, Dr. Schmitt has authored and co-authored dozens of books, book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on many related subjects. He is also an adjunct assistant professor of neurosurgery at UTMB Health in Galveston, TX.

Dr. Schmitt received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychological and Brain Sciences, with a minor in Neuroscience, from Dartmouth College, followed by the Pre-Health Program at Rutgers University. He earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and his Master of Science in Clinical Research from the University of Virginia School of Public Health.
