GME Registration Information
This page is designed for Residents, Medical Students, Allied Health Professional Clinical Rotators, and Observers to access registration information and orientation requirements.
LOCATION: The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Medical Education office is located at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio campus - 333 N. Santa Rosa St., San Antonio, Texas 78207, on the 5th floor of the Goldsbury Center for Children and Families, Suite F5626 in the Medical Library. HOURS: Badging is by appointment only Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (Not available during lunch 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.). The Medical Education office is not available for badging on Fridays and weekends.

Resident Processing Procedures

Resident Registration To-Do Items
- Complete and submit the Resident Online Registration Form
- Submit the HRSA Reporting Information Sheet (for rotations at The Children's Hospital of San Antonio only)
- Complete and submit the Special Compliance Alert Attestation
- Read the Confidentiality Agreement (you will sign the final page of the agreement via forthcoming DocuSign link.)
- You must read or review the following resident orientation items:
- Read the CHRISTUS Code of Ethics
- Read Core Values and Expectations
- Take the HIPAA Presentation with quiz (Be sure to turn up the volume on your computer)
- Review the National Patient Safety Goals
- Review Safety document
- Review Rapid Response Team
- Review Orientation Reference Guide
- Once you have completed the seven orientation above items, complete the Resident Orientation Completion Certificate
Once you have submitted your online in-processing forms you will be contacted by the Health Informatics team regarding mandatory EMR computer training as needed. You must complete this training and demonstrate proficiency prior to obtaining your computer access information.
Returning Resident Registration Items
In order to maintain ID badge access and EMR access, returning residents are required to notify the Medical Education office of changes in rotation locations and dates at least two weeks before a new rotation begins.
Use this form to update your rotation information for our records.
Resident Clearance Information
Residents are required to complete the Resident Clearance Form following their final rotation at CSR/CHofSA by first clearing with Medical Records and then returning ID Badge and Parking Pass. ID badges or parking passes that are misplaced, stolen or not returned for any reason will result in a $25 charge for each. Return this form with your ID badge and parking pass to the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Medical Education Office, 333 N. Santa Rosa St., Goldsbury Center for Children and Families, 5th Floor Suite F5626.

Medical Student Registration To-Do Items

Children's Hospital of San Antonio Medical Student Elective Rotations
- Medical Students who wish to rotate at Children’s Hospital of San Antonio must apply for senior elective rotations through Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO). The Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) is an AAMC application designed to make it easier for medical students to apply for senior electives at U.S. medical schools and teaching hospitals. Please visit the VSLO website for detailed information and resources.
- Please note: Before you can log into VSLO, your home school or medical institution must grant you access. You will receive a "VSLO: New User Instructions" email containing login instructions once you have been granted access.
- To register for an elective rotation, go to https://vslo.aamc.org/vslo.
- Search Specialty: Pediatrics and State: Texas. To search for electives at Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, select Institution: Baylor College of Medicine and Site: Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.
CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Medical Student Elective Rotations
In order to be approved for a clinical rotation with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System or The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, there must be a current affiliation agreement in place with your Clinical Program. You must also have already secured a preceptor. The Graduate Medical Education (GME) office does not assist in finding preceptors or coordinating your rotation schedules.
To request a clinical rotation, please complete all of the forms below no later than 2 weeks before your anticipated start date:

Read the Confidentiality Agreement ahead of time and sign the agreement upon registration at the GME office.

Once you have reviewed all of the elements above, complete and submit the Student Orientation Completion Certificate.
You must bring a valid photo ID (driver's license or passport) to the GME office prior to your rotation start date in order to complete your registration process and obtain a badge. You will not be allowed access to our facilities without obtaining your CHRISTUS ID badge.
Returning allied health students are required to notify the Medical Education office of changes in rotation locations and dates at least two weeks before the rotation begins. Use this form to easily update this information for our records.
Observation Privileges Application Information
If you wish to apply for Observation Privileges, please read the Observation Privileges Standards by clicking on the link below. You must ascertain authorization for the observation by a CHRISTUS Santa Rosa medical staff member who is known to you. Then, you must complete and submit the online application. If your application is approved, you will be notified to complete the Online HIPAA Presentation and submit the Observation Privileges Processing Form. Once complete, you can bring your photo ID (driver's license or passport) to the Medical Education office for processing. The Medical Staff Sponsor Agreement form must be completed and submitted by the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa medical staff member who has agreed to sponsor you.

Research Assistant Access Registration Information
In order to be approved for access as a research assistant you must have a current CITI Program Training Certificate and be named as a research assistant with an approved study at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System.
To register, complete the forms linked below. You must bring a photo ID (driver's license or passport) to the Medical Education office prior to your access start date in order to complete your registration process.

CITI Program training is necessary for anyone conducting research at a CHRISTUS Institution. If you do not have a current CITI Training Certification, click here for instructions.
