Get Behind Early Detection

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among men and women in the United States. As with many types of cancer, screenings available to determine if signs of cancer exist, and early detection is often the single most effective means of treating cancer.

January is Cervical Health Awareness Month

Each year nearly 13,000 U.S. women are diagnosed with cervical cancer, and more than 4,000 die as a result. Screening tests (Pap tests and, when appropriate, HPV tests) and vaccines exist that could essentially eliminate the disease, but are not always used despite provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) that require insurance plans to cover cervical cancer screening tests to women and HPV vaccines.
