Longview - Patients facing an immediate medical issue and needing to be seen in an urgent care setting quickly will now be able to get those needs met with the opening of the new CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic Urgent Care at 2101 W Loop 281in Longview.
The community will have a chance to visit this new facility during a Grand Opening and Blessing event on December 12, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Team members will meet and greet the community, offer tours and the Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the facility, previously known as Taylor Medical.
“CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic Urgent Care clinics provide immediate medical attention for minor medical conditions that do not require treatment at a hospital emergency room,” Holly Hrabik, Director of Ambulatory Operations. “With on-site X-ray and laboratory services, these facilities are able to treat almost any routine illness or injury and are staffed by a distinguished team of physicians and clinicians providing the same quality and compassionate patients receive from a primary care physician while offering extended and weekend hours.”
Research shows that roughly 70-percent of those patients going to the emergency room could be seen in another setting, however as access to health care continues to expand, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by the options available for care for an illness, injury or other medical condition.
“Specifically, many East Texans often must choose between a trip to the emergency room or an Urgent Care facility in a moment that doesn’t offer much time for consideration of the options,” said Hrabik. “In these scenarios, price, availability of treatment and insurance acceptance are often critical factors that, if known, can help you make a more informed decision for your health care. For example, an insurance co-payment is significantly less than the co-payment for a visit to the emergency room, as is the average total cost of an urgent care visit compared to an emergency room visit. However, the most important factor to consider is always the type of injury or illness the patient is facing.”
Urgent Care facilities provide immediate medical attention for minor medical conditions that do not require treatment at a hospital emergency room such as: abscess/boils, back injury, bites, bronchitis, bruises, ear infections/ear ache, fever/cold or flu/cough, gout/joint pain, minor burns, minor eye injuries, minor fractures or minor dislocations, minor lacerations, cuts, scrapes, mononucleosis, nausea/diarrhea/vomiting, pink eye, poison ivy, rashes, sexually transmitted diseases, skin infections, sore throat, sprains, stable allergic reactions, stable wheezing or asthma attacks, stomach flu, swimmer’s ear, upper respiratory infection, urinary tract/bladder infections and vaginal infections.
The primary purpose of emergency rooms is care for patients in emergency situations such as: chest pain, constant vomiting, continuous bleeding, head injuries, heart attack, major allergic reactions to food, animals, bug bites or wounds, major bone fractures, major dislocations, severe wounds, stroke, traumatic accidents and unconsciousness.
“If patients have a medical emergency, they should always call 9-1-1,” said Hrabik. “If their condition is included among the treatable conditions at an Urgent Care, CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic Urgent Care is open seven days a week, including extended and evening hours on weekdays. If the condition is not an emergency, patients can receive expedited medical attention at an CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic Urgent Care Longview from a physician or advanced practice provider, including X-rays and laboratory services, direct referrals to primary care providers, advanced imaging services, specialists and other hospital or clinic services if necessary.”
“We provide exceptional care for urgent medical problems and primary care medicine when patients can’t be seen quickly by their primary physician and for those wanting to avoid long wait times in the emergency room,” said Hrabik. “Our goal is to be that setting where convenience and compassion will always come first.”
CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic Urgent Care Longview is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
