Admission Criteria and Referrals
Patients must be willing to take an active role in the program and be able to participate in physical, occupational and/or speech therapy for at least three hours per day. They must also have a qualifying diagnosis that requires 24-hour nursing care and have the need for a coordinated intensive therapy.
Patients may be referred to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Program at Good Shepherd by physicians, social workers, rehabilitation nurses, counselors, patients and their families. However, a physician order is required for admission to the unit. Candidates for the rehabilitation unit may be considered for admission while residing in various temporary or permanent settings, such as their home or the hospital.
