CHRISTUS Health today announced a decision to consolidate their corporate offices in the Dallas area, in the suburb of Irving. This means that virtually all CHRISTUS corporate Associates who now office out of the two CHRISTUS corporate offices in Houston and the corporate office in San Antonio, as well as those system Associates based at various other locations, will be requested to move to the Dallas area.
“We decided to bring our system offices together in one location because change is a necessity,” said Ernie Sadau, president and CEO of CHRISTUS Health. “We have all witnessed the dramatic changes going on in the health care industry, even in our world, and we know that CHRISTUS must be prepared not only to respond, but to lead these changes.”
“To do that,” said Sadau, “We must build one CHRISTUS corporate community, driven by a strong, thriving, unified culture of service, simplicity and accountability. Locating all of the system services and Associates in one location will allow them to work together more effectively. It is also an important stewardship action, as it will drive costs out of the system and increase the value the system services provide to our patient care ministries and, ultimately, to the patients and communities we serve.”
A task force comprised of board members, members of CHRISTUS’ sponsoring congregation, corporate leadership and external consultants worked to examine all aspects of moving to one central office. The analysis included a careful examination of current costs for operating four large offices in three cities, costs of real estate, availability and cost of labor, disruption of moving Associates and lifestyle considerations of each city (community ease, air travel accessibility, quality of life, community amenities, etc.). They also considered the type of location and building in which CHRISTUS could strengthen its culture and thrive long into the future.
After months of analysis, the Dallas area proved to be the best and most affordable choice for the ministry. CHRISTUS expects to save more than $60 million over the course of 10 years by making the move.
The move to CHRISTUS’ new location will be staggered starting this summer and will be completed no later than mid-2013. Relocation assistance will be offered for all Associates who will be expected to move to the Irving area.
