CHRISTUS Health Commemorates New Irving Headquarters January 23, 2013

CHRISTUS Health, a Catholic, faith-based, not-for-profit health system, celebrated the completion of its new system headquarters building in Irving and the many partners and Associates who made it a successful transition.

Events included a service of blessing and dedication led by Bishop Kevin J. Farrell of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas. Local leaders from the City of Irving, project partners, representatives from our sponsoring congregations, and CHRISTUS Health executives and Associates were in attendance. The blessing service began in the CHRISTUS Health Christ the Healer Chapel on the first floor and continued to each floor to bless the work areas in the tradition of the Catholic church.

The day before the service, Daniel Bonnell, CHRISTUS Health's commissioned artist, visited the building to meet with Associates and discuss his “healing” collection of paintings displayed throughout the building. Bonnell is an internationally recognized artist with commissioned pieces hanging in museums, religious centers and private collections around the world. Also a published author, his most recent book, “Shadow Lessons,” chronicles his first several years of teaching art at an at-risk, inner city school in Savannah, Ga., where he continues to teach today.

Nearly a year since the announcement of CHRISTUS Health system operations’ relocation to Irving, the events commemorated not only the new system headquarters building, but also a unified CHRISTUS system that is committed to serving all those who need us for many years to come. Throughout our almost 150-year history, the mission of CHRISTUS, “to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ,” has guided our steps, and the support and partnership of friends has sustained us.

CHRISTUS Health is extremely grateful for its many outstanding partners and would like to thank: the Catholic Diocese of Dallas and the Most Reverend Kevin J. Farrell for their kind support; CBRE for their diligent management of the building search, construction and move process; The City of Irving for their warm welcome to community; Corgan Associates for their exceptional architectural and interior design; Scott and Reid for their attention to detail as our general contractors and construction company; Wells Real Estate Investment Trust for their friendly building management; and artist Daniel Bonnell for creating artwork that will serve as a daily reminder of our mission and calling.
