Doctor Howard Britton
Dr. Howard A. Britton shares insight into pediatric hematology/oncology in San Antonio and at the Children's Hospital of San Antonio. Dr. Timothy Griffin was recently awarded the Howard A. Britton M.D. Endowed Chair in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Timothy C. Griffin came to the Children's Hospital of San Antonio from the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, Grand Rapids, Mich., where he served as pediatrician-in-chief since 2010. Under his leadership, the hospital achieved top 50 rankings in numerous programs as lauded by U.S. News & World Report Best Children's Hospitals survey, including its hematology/oncology program. Britton was the first pediatric cancer physician in San Antonio, working in private practice until 1980, when he entered into a full-time academic hematology/oncology practice at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children's Hospital, now the Children's Hospital of San Antonio. He was the first pediatrician in South Texas to take an interest in children's blood disorders and cancer, a cause to which he devoted a significant portion of his professional life. Dr. Howard A. Britton passed away in early March 2014.
