Culinary Health Education for Families (CHEF) is a program that teaches children and families practical nutrition and basic cooking skills with the long-term goal of motivating individuals and communities to adopt and sustain healthier eating habits.

CHEF classes are offered for children and their families at The Children's Hospital of San Antonio. Physicians and other medical providers can refer their patients to CHEF.

CHEF classes provide education about a variety of dietary needs. Classes are approximately an hour and a half in length and include a demo, hand-on cooking experience and nutrition education. Afternoon and evening classes are available.

If you are a physician or provider and would like to refer a patient to the CHEF program, download and complete the referral form and fax it to 210-704-2375. The CHEF Team will call and schedule the class (appointment) with your patient directly. If you are already part of the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa network , you can access a CHEF referral through Athena.
