Our Approach

We are the newly transformed emergency room in the only free-standing children’s hospital in San Antonio and South Texas - and if you're a parent, that means everything. It means our ER is staffed with pediatric emergency medicine providers and nurses from around the country, each trained to do one thing – take care of your child in an emergency. Our resources are state-of-the-art and everything is designed to comfort you and your child. We're open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Everything about our emergency department is designed to comfort your child during his or her visit. We treat more than 80,000 patients a year with conditions from traumatic injuries to minor coughs and colds. We also provide full-time SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) coverage within our emergency department.

We also have a specialized trauma team on site. The trauma team consists of pediatric specialists in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgical and plastic surgery as well as anesthesia. These specialists are available to respond to any emergency.

Our Emergency Room has translation services available for anyone who does not speak English.
