Pediatric Clinic

Infants, children and adolescents have special medical needs. During these years of rapid growth, development and maturation, every child needs regular medical care to stay healthy and achieve their full developmental potential. Our caring teams are committed to providing quality service in a comfortable, safe setting.

Our Approach

The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Primary Care - Downtown is now providing coordinated, comprehensive care for our general pediatric patients. Our providers see children from birth until their 19th birthday.

Our clinic is staffed by board-certified pediatricians and an experienced nurse practitioner. Our providers treat the whole child – mind, spirit, and body. As faculty members at Baylor College of Medicine, our providers have a special interest in literacy, health promotion, and child development.

Initial Visit

For your child’s first visit, please bring a copy of the immunization record, insurance card, and a list of all medications. We accept most insurances, but encourage parents to contact the insurance company prior to the visit to verify coverage.
If you are moving from another pediatric practice, our clinic staff will request medical records on your behalf from your previous provider. Our providers will have a parent sign the request form on the first visit.

Well Visits

For well child care, such as immunizations and check-ups, please make an appointment as early as possible. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment time so that any required paperwork can be handled before your scheduled time.

Sick Visits

Please contact our office for an appointment as soon as you think your child might need to be seen. If you need help determining if your child should be checked out, please call early in the day so that we can guide you through the decision making process. Same-day appointments are available for sick visits, sports physicals, and well-child checkups.

Asthma Care

The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio provides a variety of services for allergy and asthma patients. We provide evaluation, treatment, and management for asthma and related lung disorders. Our physicians help parents manage their child’s asthma with the Asthma Action Plan and other resources. Learn more about our specialized Asthma and Allergy Clinic.
