It can be difficult to determine whether you should take your child to the ER or an Urgent Care center. The following list explains which injuries or conditions are best suited to each particular setting.

The Emergency Center at Stone Oak is always open and staffed with a devoted team of pediatric nurses, physicians, and support staff specially trained in the care of children in an emergency. We share one common goal – making sure your child receives the care they need as quickly as possible in a child-friendly environment.

If your child experiences the following symptoms, we recommend a visit to the Emergency Center.

  • Allergic reaction
  • Chest pain
  • Confusion
  • Broken bone
  • Fainting
  • High fever
  • Ingestion of obstructive object
  • Major head injury
  • Palpitations
  • Pneumonia
  • Seizures
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Severe asthma attack
  • Severe burns
  • Severe headache
  • Shock/Electric Shock
  • Shortness of breath
  • Unconsciousness
  • Uncontrollable bleeding
