Third Year Residents

Blake Barraza, MD

Blake Barraza, MD

Hello everyone! My name is Blake Barraza and I am from Laredo, TX like a few of the other residents. My background is a little different because I grew up in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico with my extended family since my mother was a single mother and needed help from her family. As a kid, I was very active with sports and the outdoors. There wasn’t a day that I didn’t go play at the local rec or a weekend my uncles didn’t take me fishing or to the ranch.

Max McColloster, MD

Max McColloster, MD

Hello everybody! My name is Max, and I look forward to meeting you all! I was born and raised in Houston as one of four brothers (God bless my parents for managing to raise us all). I grew up with a passion for science and learning, delving into hobbies in robotics, biology, and chemistry.

Serena McGill, MD

Chief Resident

Howdy!  My name is Serena. I was born and raised in Hondo, TX (a small town just west of San Antonio).  I am the youngest of three children, with an older brother who is a PICC line nurse at the Baptist Health System here in San Antonio and an older sister who is an Attorney in San Diego. My parents and family are incredibly supportive!

Vi Nguyen, DO

Vi Nguyen, DO

Hi everyone! I was born in Vietnam and came to Texas when I was four years old and have lived in San Antonio ever since. I graduated from Health Careers High School and then went on to graduate from St. Mary’s University with a degree in Biology. San Antonio has always been my home where my family and friends are, and I am grateful to come back here for Family Medicine Residency after graduating from medical school in Kansas City, MO.

Vincent Nguyen, MD

Vincent Nguyen, MD

I am originally from Houston, TX. My parents were refugees from South Vietnam who eventually settled in Texas. I attended the University of Texas at Austin where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in human biology. During that time, I was involved in a number of medical mission trips to Southeast Asia where I found a lifelong passion for primary care.

Hey there! I grew up in the diverse suburbs of southwest Houston. I earned my bachelors degree from THE University of Texas (Hook ‘Em!) and majored in neurobiology.

Allison Smith, MD

Allison Smith, MD

Hey, my name is Allison and I’m from Austin, Texas! Naturally, I grew up as a University of Texas fan but for college I decided to switch over to the winning team by attending the University of Oklahoma (Boomer!). I graduated from OU with a BS in Biology and a minor in Spanish. In the year between graduating college and entering medical school, I studied public health through the University of Texas School of Public Health and volunteered as a Spanish language interpreter at a local free clinic.

Suzy Warden, MD

Suzy Warden, MD

Howdy! My name is Suzy Warden, and I was raised in a small, East Texas town just south of Tyler. I am the oldest of two and have been blessed with the opportunity to live within thirty minutes of most of my extended family – so I love gatherings and getting to know people! I am the loudest and proudest member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2015 (WHOOP!) which is where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. The beach life then called my name, and I earned my medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galvest

Logan Yang, MD

Logan Yang, MD

Hi there and thanks for taking the time to look at our page! My name is Logan Yang and I’m from The Woodlands, Texas just north of Houston. I am a native Texan but also spent a lot of time growing up in rural Michigan with my grandparents, who helped instill an appreciation of compassion, life-long learning, and butter. I attended Trinity University in San Antonio, great school by the way, for my undergraduate education where I majored in Biology and minored in Ancient Mediterranean Studies. During my time at Trinity, I realized that I was interested in medicine and pursued the pre-medical track, which led to me attending the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston for medical school.
