Message from the Fellowship
The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship is pleased to announce that we will undergo changes beginning academic year 2019-2020. The Fellowship will move to a more thorough CHRISTUS Health-based educational experience, while retaining the same educational opportunities. The Fellowship will advance teaching from our renowned, Board-certified physicians within the CHRISTUS Health System. In the future, these efforts will be led by Dr. Rudy R. Navarro, a partner in the CHRISTUS Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Department and a practicing physician at Ortho San Antonio. Fellows will also find many of their required rotations now within the CHRISTUS Health System. Moreover, fellows will continue to have extensive multi-sport team and event coverage throughout the academic year and will work directly with our team of athletic trainers to coordinate team care.
Additionally, our program will be able to provide Pediatric Sports Medicine, Pediatric Orthopedics, and Pediatric subspecialty training rotations for fellows, via our unique relationship with the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. Children’s Hospital of San Antonio is a world-class facility that provides a multi-specialty pediatric-focused educational source.
Finally, the Fellowship will be providing a more robust didactics and scholarly academic component. In addition to continued medical student teaching and didactics, fellows will be involved in multiple teaching and lecturing opportunities, research projects, and scholarly writing.
CHRISTUS Health and the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship are excited about our future direction. We urge you to take a closer look at our program as we move forward.
