Intensive Care Unit at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa-New Braunfels Earns Silver Beacon Award for Excellence 6/1/2018

(New Braunfels, TX) — The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses recently awarded the Intensive Care Unit at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital-New Braunfels with a Silver Beacon Award for Excellence, recognizing the high-level of care provided in one of the hospital’s most critical units.

The Silver Beacon Award for excellence is a significant milestone on the path to exceptional patient care and healthy work environments — recognizing ICU caregivers who successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with AACN’s rigorous standards.

“It’s an honor that our Associates who are on the frontlines of providing intensive health care are recognized for being among the best in their field,” said Jim Wesson, President of CHRSITUS Santa Rosa Hospital-New Braunfels. “We are grateful for our ICU Team, who provides the highest-level of care to our most critically-ill patients.”

The Silver Beacon Award for Excellence signifies an effective approach to policies, procedures and processes set forth by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. The New Braunfels ICU unit has evaluation and improvement strategies in place and excellent performance measures, AACN officials said.

Leslie Schubert, the hospital’s director of Intensive Care and Intermediate Care praised her team and the nursing excellence they deliver each day to their patients.

“The CHRISTUS New Braunfels ICU team demonstrates stellar critical care skills and knowledge while exemplifying our organizations core values and mission,” Schubert said. “It is an honor to be a part of this compassionate group of nurses!”

The Intensive Care Unit at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital-New Braunfels earned its silver award by meeting the following evidence-based Beacon Award for Excellence criteria:

• Appropriate Staffing and Staff Engagement
• Effective Communication, Knowledge Management and Learning and Development
• Evidence-Based Practice and Processes
• Outcome Measurement

With this award, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses applauds the commitment of Intensive Care Unit at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital -New Braunfels for working together to meet and exceed high standards.
