San Marcos, Texas - CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System is pleased to announce several leadership additions and promotions that have recently gone into effect:
Thomas McKinney, MHA, FACHE assumes a new role as President of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos. A skilled hospital administrator, McKinney has been part of the CHRISTUS Health System ministry for more than 20 years, during which time he served in a number of leadership roles. Just prior to taking the helm in San Marcos, McKinney served as President of both CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Kleberg and CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Alice. In his dual roles, McKinney oversaw the financial and operational performance of both hospitals, and worked in concert with CHRISTUS Spohn Health System’s executive leadership team to achieve the health system’s mission of elevating the level of health care for South Texans. Prior to that, he served as President of CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital in Atlanta, Texas. “It is an honor to lead CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos during the transition into this rapidly growing community,” says McKinney. “I feel confident that this Hospital is positioned to serve San Marcos and Hays County for many years to come.
Rick Villarreal, MBA joins CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos as its newest Vice President of Finance. Villarreal is no stranger to CHRISTUS Health, having served as Regional System Controller and Integrity Officer for CHRISTUS Spohn Health System. Immediately prior to joining CHRISTUS Santa Rosa, Villarreal served as CEO for Community First Health Plan. In his role, Villarreal built relationships with physicians and provided oversight to improve claims processing. Under his leadership, the health plan secured a contract with Texas Medicaid and CHIP valued at more than $400 million, annually. Villarreal credits his success to his strong faith, commitment to family and invaluable lessons and support he has received from leaders, mentors and friends throughout his career.
Lee Johannsen, MD will take on an expanded leadership role as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos. Dr. Johannsen is a very familiar name and face in San Marcos, having previously served as Chief Medical Officer for Central Texas Medical Center. In his role, Dr. Johannsen serves as a liaison between medical staff and hospital leadership to enhance the quality of care for patients as they transition through the continuum of care. He’s responsible for quality, patient safety and many other key clinical operations. Prior to being named as CMO for the hospital, Dr. Johannsen served in numerous leadership roles, including chief of the medical staff and medical director for the hospital’s Emergency Department.
William Micah Johnson, MBA, MSN, RN has assumed the role of Chief Nursing Officer at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos. Johnson will oversee patient care delivery, nursing operations and nursing practice. With more than 15 years of nursing experience, Johnson has worked in and led various nursing units across a wide variety of settings and organizations. This includes emergency departments, intensive care units and medical units in large urban facilities, small rural hospitals and specialty hospitals. Most recently, Johnson served as President and Chief Nursing Officer for CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital in Atlanta, Texas.
