Outreach Clinics

In our effort to provide the best patient experience and more convenient locations for adult kidney transplant evaluations, CHRISTUS Transplant Institute (CTI) offers four outreach satellite clinics, which 59 percent of all of our kidney transplants were performed on dialysis patients that we UNOS wait-listed through our outreach catchment areas.

Our outreach clinics provide convenient locations for pre-transplant candidates and local physicians who have patients in need of kidney transplants.

The transplant clinics bring the exceptional care of CHRISTUS Transplant Institute and alleviates long drives for those that live outside the San Antonio metropolitan area.

We also support the longstanding goal of providing individualized patient care by offering culturally sensitive services for our Hispanic patients needing or having undergone kidney transplantation.

Many of our Hispanic patients prefer to communicate in Spanish and we have a bilingual team made up of physicians, nurse clinical coordinators, a social worker, financial coordinators and most all other support staff.

Our main site and all our outreach clinics are dedicated to customizing patient care that recognizes our patient’s cultural differences.

The patient receives an individual evaluation and all testing is referred into the local medical community to be performed. All of our transplant referrals receive a comprehensive educational program.

Our outreach programs have been hugely successful and patients across the state are excited about being followed by their primary nephrologist, as well as, our multidisciplinary transplant team in their local communities.
