The stroke team immediately initiates comprehensive evaluation and treatment, quickly determining whether a stroke is ischemic (blocked blood vessel) or hemorrhagic (caused by a bleeding blood vessel). Research has shown that giving clot-busting medication to patients within three hours of the initial onset of symptoms has the possibility of greatly improving survival and recovery from an ischemic stroke. That is why it is so important to recognize the early warning signs of stroke and get it to the emergency room as soon as possible. Through the use of Telemedicine, we have the ability to engage in an immediate consult with an interventional neurologist.
