Jamie Lee Curtis to Keynote 2016 CHRISTUS LiveWell Women’s Conference January 20, 2016

Actress and author Jamie Lee Curtis will keynote the 9th annual CHRISTUS LiveWell Women’s Conference, an all-day event showcasing the latest in health and wellness on May 12 at Ford Park in Beaumont, Texas. Editor-in-Chief of VIP Magazine of Southeast Texas and the Southeast Texas EventsBook, Shelly Vitanza, will emcee the conference.

Curtis is an A-list actress with starring roles in such acclaimed films as Freaky Friday, True Lies, Trading Places and A Fish Called Wanda.

“We’re excited to announce Jamie Lee Curtis as the keynote speaker for our 9th annual LiveWell Women’s Conference to lead our efforts to educate and celebrate health and wellness among women in Southeast Texas,” says Becky Howard, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System conference lead. “Because the CHRISTUS LiveWell Women’s Conference is all about encouraging women to take charge of their lives and health, we are looking forward to hearing Jamie Lee share her personal message and encouragement of living well with the women in our community.”

In addition to her impressive career in film, Curtis has co-starred opposite Richard Lewis in the sitcom Anything But Love, as well as the title role in TNT’s adaptation of Wendy Wasserstein’s play, The Heidi Chronicles, and the CBS telefilm Nicholas’ Gift, which she earned an Emmy nomination for. She is also an author of best-selling children’s books, having sold over five million books under the banner Books To Grow By. She published her 10th book entitled My Brave Year of Firsts: Tries, Sighs and High Fives in 2012.

The day will feature more than 20 sessions, empowering women to improve their physical, spiritual and mental health or even try their hand at a do-it-yourself (DIY) project. “We are also thrilled to share a new twist has been added to the last session of the day this year,” said Howard. “The fourth session will feature a second celebrity duo, stars of Great American Country and HGTV, Amie and Jolie Sikes, better known as the Junk Gypsies.”

The Junk Gypsies are best known for their widely acclaimed series produced by Great American Country & HGTV entitled “Junk Gypsies” and several specials including “Endless Yard Sale” and “Garage Sale Wars”. Comprised of Texas sisters Amie and Jolie Sikes, and their mom, Janie, their company started in 1998 with a dream; love of the open road and a flea market addiction. Staying true to their core values, the Sikes family has built a successful business in Round Top, Texas, designing, creating and building merchandise to create and transform spaces for country music artists and Hollywood stars. Celebrity clients and projects include Miranda Lambert’s tour bus, wedding reception, and developing her signature logo; Dierks Bentley’s Airstream; and, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day’s Airstream to name a few. Most recent projects include exclusive lines for Pottery Barn Teen, a Junk Gypsy boot line with Lane Boots and their first JUNK GYPSY book, with Simon & Schuster, that is slated for release Fall 2016.

Curtis and The Junk Gypsies continue the CHRISTUS LiveWell Women’s Conference tradition of choosing inspiring, high-profile celebrities to deliver the keynote speeches and sessions on enriching the lives of women during any stage of their life. Past speakers include television personalities and entrepreneurs Bill and Giuliana Rancic in 2015, actress Melissa Joan Hart in 2014, singer-songwriter Jewel in 2013, actress Helen Hunt in 2012 and Hilary Swank in 2011.
