CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System Announces Preparedness Plan for Storms
August 23, 2020
(Beaumont, TX, August 23, 2020) – With Hurricane Marco and Tropical Storm Laura approaching the Texas/Louisiana coasts, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System is taking all necessary precautions to protect our patients, our Associates and physicians and secure our facilities. CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System leaders met throughout the weekend and will continue those meetings to ensure our emergency plans are in place and ready to be activated.
We have established plans to ensure that each of our hospitals is adequately staffed. Our facilities are all equipped to continue operations through the use of back-up generators in the event that the tropical storm causes a lapse in electrical power. We have also worked to shore up any areas within our facilities that have experienced flooding during past significant weather events.
We ask the community to remember our NO VISITOR policy is still in effect. Only those who are considered essential to patient care will be allowed to accompany patients. This is a precarious period for our community and we thank you for your understanding and your willingness to not to visit our hospitals at this time.
We do not anticipate any interruption to our operations on Monday, August 24. However, we will carefully examine the impact that these storms may have on our services after that. We will provide frequent updates on our website at christussetx.org and on the CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/christushospitalsetx.
