CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Maternity and Women’s Health Center opens in Port Arthur on March 23, continuing to enhance accessible, high quality healthcare for the Southeast Texas community.

“Our goal has always been to bring the best care into the community,” said CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System President of Ambulatory Services Ryan Miller. “We recognized the need for women in the Port Arthur area to have access to low cost, high-quality prenatal and gynecological care, and believe the new center will help women find a health care home that can provide the best guidance and care.”

CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Maternity and Women’s Health Center offers a full-range of obstetric care, including low-cost pregnancy tests, prenatal care for normal and high-risk pregnancies, postpartum care and routine ultrasounds. Gynecological care includes well-woman exams and pap smears, pelvic and breast exams, bone density scans, colonoscopy and mammography referrals, menopausal care, care for vaginal and urinary tract infections and screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.

Pregnant women who receive their prenatal care at the new center will deliver their babies at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth in nearby Beaumont. St. Elizabeth provides extensive inpatient maternity services in a family-centered setting and the only Level IIIA neonatal intensive care services in Southeast Texas.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Certified Nurse Midwife Rhonda Dixon will be caring for patients at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Maternity and Women’s Center, at 2001 9th Ave, on the campus of CHRISTUS Southeast Texas St. Mary. With more than 25 years of nursing experience, Dixon received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and has developed and led programs focused on women’s health.

“Rhonda brings a wealth of compassionate, patient-centered experience to our team at St. Mary. We are thrilled to have her join our team to serve our community in Port Arthur,” said Miller.
