CHRISTUS Ochsner Health Southwestern Louisiana Making Severe Weather Preparations

Lake Charles, Louisiana – As Hurricane Laura approaches the Texas/Louisiana coasts, CHRISTUS Ochsner Health Southwestern Louisiana is taking all necessary precautions in advance of the storms, to protect our patients, Associates and providers and secure our facilities.
At this time, there is no business impact to our hospitals on Tuesday, August 25. All services remain open and as previously scheduled. Out of an abundance of caution, all hospitals and outpatient facilities will be closed on Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27, and all elective procedures will be rescheduled.
The Ochsner CHRISTUS Health Clinics will be closed on Tuesday, August 25, and will remain closed for the rest of the week. The community COVID Testing scheduled for this week at the CHRISTUS Senior Activity Center has been canceled.
The Emergency Care Centers at CHRISTUS Ochsner Health St. Patrick Hospital and CHRISTUS Ochsner Health Lake Area Hospital will remain open throughout the storm.
Updates on the resuming those services safely will be communicated as decisions are are made following the storm. CHRISTUS Ochsner Health Southwestern Louisiana are still enforcing a a NO VISITOR POLICY, which will remain in place.
Our facilities will not be used as a shelter prior to, or during, the storm. Please remember that although our hospital Emergency Departments are open, EMS will not operate vehicles in high winds, and may not be operational during the storm.
