Lake Charles, Louisiana – As Hurricane Delta approaches the Louisiana coast and in the wake of the parish-wide Evacuation Order, CHRISTUS Ochsner Health Southwestern Louisiana is taking all necessary precautions in advance of the storms, to protect our patients, Associates and providers and secure our facilities.
Out of an abundance of caution, all outpatient facilities will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 8, and Friday, Oct. 9, and all elective procedures will be rescheduled. Only emergent surgeries will take place.
The Ochsner CHRISTUS Health Clinics will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 8, and will remain closed for the rest of the week.
The Emergency Department at CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital will remain open throughout the storm. As of 7:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, both hospitals will close all but a single entrance – the ER at CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick and the rear Day Surgery entrance at CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area.
Beginning at noon today, Oct. 8, at all CHRISTUS Ochsner Health Southwestern Louisiana facilities, a NO VISITOR POLICY will go into effect (allowing for approved essential visitors only). Updates on the resuming services safely will be communicated as decisions are made following the storm.
Our facilities will not be used as a shelter prior to, or during, the storm. Please remember that although our hospital Emergency Departments are open, EMS will not operate vehicles in high winds, and may not be operational during the storm.
We will distribute further messages as updated information becomes available. The CHRISTUS Facebook page will also be updated frequently at https://www.facebook.com/christusSWLA.
