August 29, 2019
Lake Charles, Louisiana - CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital Podiatric Medicine and Surgical Residency Program welcomes foot and ankle specialist Bradley Jimerson, DPM, as their newest resident. The program is a partnership with Imperial Health’s Center for Orthopaedics.
Dr. Jimerson is from Dallas, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, before earning a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Jimerson served as the student representative to the APMA (American Podiatric Medical Association) Board of Trustees, and also as a delegate and Board of Trustees member of the APMSA (American Podiatric Medical Students’ Association). He is the recipient of the APMSA President’s Award, which is given to one podiatric medical student in the country each year.
The residency is a 3-year, surgically oriented program in which Dr. Jimerson will focus on foot and ankle surgery and comprehensive podiatric medicine. He will receive training in CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick’s operating room, CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area Hospital, CHRISTUS Imperial Calcasieu Surgical Center and West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital.
Dr. Jimerson will gain extensive direct patient care experience in the areas of wound care, diabetic care and podiatric research, and will receive podiatric and orthopedic training, including clinical and practice management in the hospital and office settings. Dr. Jimerson will also rotate through various specialties at CHRISTUS Ochsner St. Patrick Hospital, including emergency medicine, internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics and radiology. Sports Medicine training, at both the collegiate and high school levels, will be a focus as well.
Because the residency is in partnership with Center for Orthopaedics (CFO), an affiliate of Imperial Health and the region’s largest musculoskeletal group, Dr. Jimerson will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced orthopaedic surgeons and specialists, and he will also work within the group’s Sports Medicine Program, which provides services to McNeese State University and 14 area high schools.
