Lung Cancer

Healing at Home

We provide comprehensive lung cancer care from detection and diagnosis through treatment and follow-up care.

Lung cancer is cancerous cells and tumors that grow in the lining of the air passages. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths and also one of the most preventable types.

There are three types of lung cancer:

  • Non-small cell lung cancer (the most common)
  • Small cell lung cancer
  • Lung carcinoid tumor (less than 5 percent of lung cancers)

Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening

Lung cancer screening may be appropriate for individuals who are between the ages of 50-79, free of any signs or symptoms of lung cancer and are current or former smokers.  Once the test is completed, the scan will be ready by a radiologist, and then our Nurse Navigator will contact you and your physician with the results and recommended follow-up.

If you believe you may be eligible, contact our Oncology Nurse Navigator Michele Hurley, RN, at 337-431-7916 or, and she will meet with you to review eligibility and responsibilities.
