CHRISTUS Spohn Announces Tropical Storm Hanna Preparedness Plan
July 24, 2020
With a Tropical Storm approaching the Coastal Bend, CHRISTUS Spohn Health System is taking all necessary precautions, in advance of the storm, to protect our patients and secure our facilities.
The health and safety of our physicians, Associates and patients is our highest priority. We have established plans to ensure that each of our hospitals is adequately staffed. Our facilities are all equipped to continue operations through the use of back-up generators in the event that the tropical storm causes a lapse in electrical power. We have also worked to shore up any areas within our facilities that have experienced flooding during past significant weather events.
Due to COVID-19, we have revised our Visitor Policy, significantly limiting the number of visitors within our hospitals. With Tropical Storm Hanna on track to bring a significant weather event to our area, in the interest of safety, we are advising potential hospital visitors to explore remote methods of contacting their loved ones (e.g. via telephone, Zoom and FaceTime among other methods).
These restrictions and guidelines are similar to those implemented at hospitals and health systems across the country to protect the public, our patients and caregivers, as well as prevent the spread of illness.
The tropical storm adds another layer of risk to our vulnerable patients. This is a precarious period for our community and we thank you for your understanding and your willingness to not to visit our hospitals at this time.
