Level II Trauma Program Moves to CHRISTUS Spohn - Shoreline Campus May 02, 2017

Corpus Christi, Texas – CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline is pleased to welcome the region’s only Level II Trauma Center as it transitions May 2, 2017 from the Memorial campus.
This move brings together the CHRISTUS Spohn trauma team with key specialties and the latest technologies at Shoreline under one roof, said Dr. Osbert Blow, Chief Medical Officer and Trauma Program Medical Director.

“This will enhance our trauma program and elevate patient care for the entire community,” Dr. Blow added. All regional Emergency Medical Services and Fire Department ambulances will now bring trauma patients to CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline, linking them with expert care and life-saving specialties at one location.

Memorial will continue to operate its key services including its Emergency Department, Behavioral Health Services, Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center and its medical residency programs.

This transition is the next step in CHRISTUS Spohn’s PATH Forward (People and Actions Transforming Healthcare). PATH is a strategic plan that was put into motion in 2013 and is designed to meet the evolving needs of our community for generations to come. A major component of PATH is a $335 million investment to enhance patient access and provide state-of-the-art facilities.

In January, CHRISTUS Spohn completed a major milestone on Our PATH Forward, with the opening of the new Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center, which now serves as a medical home for thousands of South Texans. At the Shoreline campus, the 10-story Patient Care Tower and Central Utility Plant are rapidly taking shape, which are on track to open in 2019. Follow CHRISTUS Spohn’s progress by visiting www.ourpathforward.org
