CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini brings heart healthy lessons to school’s gym class March 09, 2018

Stocked up on jump ropes and stethoscopes, staff at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini took over gym classes at Alexandria Middle Magnet School (AMMS). Team members from the hospital's cardiology, nursing and education departments taught students lifesaving skills. Students rotated between three stations gathering heart healthy information during American Heart Month. Activities included learning to measure heart rates, hands-only CPR and the signs of a stroke. Over 600 students participated. This is the first year Cabrini has partnered with AMMS for the program. Other schools have already expressed interest and they hope to expand the program in the future.
