A stroke can happen to anyone at any time.  That is why CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital – Atlanta’s Stroke Team is ready and available 24/7/365. CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital – Atlanta has undergone a survey for Support Level III Stroke Designation with zero criteria deficiencies and is pending designation at this time.

We also provide rehabilitation services provide quality, compassionate care designed to assist patients to return to their maximum function and health potential. Rehabilitation and follow-up care helps restore functions that may have been lost as a result of stroke. The human brain is highly adaptable and patients can learn new ways of functioning to regain their independence.

The CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital – Atlanta Stroke Program includes:

  • A multidisciplinary Acute Stroke Response Team, available 24/7/365, that can administer the clot-busting drug, tPA (tissue plasminogen activator) promptly and appropriately.
  • The integration of EMS providers into the transport, care, and early notification to the Emergency Department of incoming stroke patients.
  • Emergency Department staff that is trained to triage stroke patients and to immediately activate the Acute Stroke Team
  • Registered Nurses certified in Acute Stroke Life Support and have received American Board of Neuroscience Nursing Stroke Certification
  • Medical expertise in the field of neurology, via teleneurology, through a partnership with NeuroCall.
  • In-patient stroke management and out-patient rehabilitation services
  • Ease of consult and/or transfer with CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System
  • Teleneurology works through the use of two-way audio and visual communication to bring the neurology expertise directly into the CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital – Atlanta emergency room.
