CHRISTUS St. Michael Outpatient Rehabilitation Center-Atlanta (CSM Outpatient Rehab-Atlanta) recently expanded and relocated to 901 S. William Street, Atlanta. The outpatient center has relocated from 204 N. William Street.
Now closer to the hospital, the new location features better parking options for patients, double the previous treatment space, private treatment and evaluation rooms, new equipment and new services.
New equipment includes recumbent bicycles, a reverse tread mill, an elliptical, training stairs, traction table, traction unit, and electrical stimulation units.
The more than $220,000 investment, made up of contributions by CHRISTUS Health, Atlanta Hospital Authority, CSMA Foundation, and the Atlanta Economic Development Corporation, allowed CHRISTUS St. Michael Outpatient Rehab-Atlanta to expand their scope of services to include speech language therapy and occupational therapy in addition to the wide array of physical therapy services already provided. Previously, Cass County area residents needing occupational therapy or speech language services had to travel to Texarkana or further, according to Thomas McKinney, MHA, Administrator, CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta.
“CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta is excited to make this additional investment for the people of Cass County region,” McKinney said. “Bringing growth and advanced technology closer to home for the health of our community aligns perfectly with our mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”
“As your health care partner, we help you reach your fullest potential whether you are recovering from an injury (orthopedic, sports, back, work-related, etc.), stroke or coping with a physical ailment,” explained Jim Aldridge, PT, DPT, MHA, Total Therapy Manager, CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta. “Our comprehensive outpatient therapy services are directed toward our patients developing and reaching optimal levels of everyday function so they can live to the fullest.”
“Working with each patient’s physician, our therapists and support staff prepare a plan to meet individual needs and reach his/her goals,” Aldridge said.
Rehabilitation programs and services at CHRISTUS St. Michael Outpatient Rehab-Atlanta include balance assessment and testing, coordination testing, exercise program development, hand therapy, manual therapy, scar management, prosthesis training, ADL training, gait analysis/training, sports medicine, back education, body mechanics, stroke/CVA rehabilitation, work readiness conditioning, work simulation, job site evaluation and analysis, ergonomic assessment, fall prevention training, bed mobility, transfer training, ambulation training and more.
