CHRISTUS St. Vincent is pleased to announce that Sayuri Yamada has joined the hospital’s Board of Directors.

A lifelong resident of northern New Mexico, Sayuri Yamada is Executive Director of Government and Public Affairs for PNM Resources. She is responsible for government affairs, corporate social responsibility, PNM Resources Foundation, community relations and stakeholder engagement.

“We are extremely fortunate to have someone with Sayuri’s energy, experience, and expertise,” said CHRISTUS St. Vincent President & CEO Lillian Montoya. “Sayuri brings with her a depth of experience and knowledge of our community that will greatly benefit our hospital.”

As a Policy Strategist, Yamada works to connect people, ideas and policy that create positive change. She and her team work tirelessly to elevate and amplify PNM’s clean power message -- collaborating with environmental groups, policy makers and opinion leaders to draft landmark legislation. Her efforts have resulted in major legislative impact.

Prior to joining PNM Resources in October 2006, Yamada was Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry, which serves as the statewide chamber of commerce.

In addition to ACI, Yamada worked as the Business Development Manager for Yamada Science & Art Corporation for 15 years; one of the first tech transfers from Los Alamos National Labs as well as an international high-tech software company based in Los Alamos/Santa Fe that provides atmospheric modeling to clients, including Electric Power Research Institute, Toshiba Nuclear Power Plant, and the Department of Defense.

Yamada currently serves as a member of the advisory committee for the Utility Executive Course at the University of Idaho and past chair of the New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry. She is a former chair of the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce and former board member of Santa Fe Preparatory School. Yamada holds a BA from Baylor University.
