A New Mexico native, Kathy Armijo Etre holds a PhD in Human and Organizational Systems and a Master’s in Social Work. She has worked in the field of health and human services for more than 30 years in state government, non-profits, education, and health care. Kathy has extensive experience in the areas of early childhood, school age children, adolescent, adult behavioral health, and senior care. Her areas of expertise include organizational development, program development, and public health.
Kathy has a deeply personal and professional commitment to improving the health and well-being of the people of northern New Mexico. She believes in treating people as “whole” persons; truly recognizing that individuals are more than just a medical condition or a client receiving a service and that It takes more than health care services for people to lead happy, healthy lives. She believes that all communities have resources to build upon, including health care, safety net programs, faith communities, family supports and most importantly, people who care. Having the opportunity to do this work in her own community brings her great professional satisfaction.
