Luis Rigales

Luis Rigales MD

Luis Rigales, MD is a graduate of the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine and the Program Director for the Northern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Rigales completed his residency at the University of California San Francisco affiliated Salinas Family Medicine Residency Program.

He was the Associate / Academic Director for the residency program based out of La Familia Medical Center for four years before accepting his position as Program Director. Dr. Rigales is committed to the academic excellence of the residency and has a strong background in faculty development and curriculum development. He is a graduate of the University Of Southern California Keck School Of Medicine Educational Leadership Fellowship. He is a native New Mexican, fluent in Spanish, married with three boys and a girl and enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.

LeahBillington

Lia Billington Ph.D., M.A.

Lia Billington, Ph.D., M.A. is a broad certified medical (prescribing) psychologist and Behavioral Science Faculty with our Northern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program. She provides brief psychotherapy and psychotropic medication management in consultation with the patient’s primary care provider. Dr. Billington also provides behavioral interventions for health-related behaviors such as weight loss, relaxation training, and medical treatment compliance. Other common diagnostic categories seen are anxiety, depression, grief, and bipolar disorders that are non-emergent.

Suzanne Burlone MD, MSPH, OBGYN

"Women's health issues are exciting and intimate aspects of their lives. It is a privilege to share in the care of women who allow me to take part in their health care."

Dr. Burlone graduated from medical school at the University Of North Carolina School Of Medicine and received her MSPH from the University Of North Carolina School Of Public Health. She recently completed her Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Oregon Health and Science University.

Dr. Burlone is interested in women's health with a special focus on contraception, preventive health, complicated pregnancies and gynecologic surgery.

James Delgado MD

Dr. Delgado graduated from the University Of New Mexico in 1996 with a Medical Degree. He did his residency in Family Practice through the Northern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency Program and completed in 1999. Dr. Delgado is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a physician at CHRISTUS Pojoaque Primary Care.

NeilDevitt

Neal Devitt MD

"My uncle Joe was a much loved family physician in Milwaukee and was my role model but I didn't become interested in medicine until I saw the birth of our first daughter, Sheila, in 1972. The rigid practice of obstetrics at that time, as well as the quality of care we had experienced in a teaching clinic in Boston were eye openers for me and inspired me to want to provide a more humane, patient focused care."

"I received a National Health Corps Scholarship for medical school and came to La Familia to pay back my scholarship obligation. My family loved Santa Fe and La Familia so we stayed past my 4 year scholarship commitment and made Santa Fe our home. Our daughter, Jessica, will complete a residency in Family Medicine in 2013. She hopes to return to Santa Fe to practice."

Dr. Devitt attended medical school at Rush University Medical School in Chicago. He is board certified in Family Medicine and is a Fellow and past president of the New Mexico Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is a Past Chair of the Department of Medicine at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center. Dr. Devitt has been practicing since 1984.

Ray Galley

Ray Galley PA-C

Ray Galley has been a Physician Assistant since 1983. He attended Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio and received a Masters in Public Health from the University of Washington.  He has been in Santa Fe since 2003.  Ray also has an interest in Rheumatology and runs the La Familia Medical Center Rheumatology clinic in partnership with the UNM ECHO program.

Agustina Garzon-Lopez

Dr. Garzon-Lopez has a medical practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico and is a family physician at La Familia Medical Center. Her interest includes Women’s Health and Obstetrical care. She specializes in family medicine, and has over five years of experience. Dr. Garzon-Lopez graduated with a medical degree in 2010. She attends in both inpatient and outpatient setting.

Gary Giblin MD

Dr. Giblin has been practicing Family Medicine since 1995. He went to University of New Mexico for medical school and has a special interest in maternal and child medicine and in hospice care. Dr. Giblin is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Susan Griggs joined La Familia Medical Center in May 2014. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with an M.S. in Nursing and Post-Master’s Degree in Certified Nurse Midwife.

Wendy Johnson

Wendy Johnson MD

"I credit my residency training at La Familia for showing me how true community medicine and primary care should be practiced. My mentors, both health providers and promotoras, provided high quality compassionate care to whole families from birth to death."

Dr. Johnson comes to La Familia Medical Center from The University of Washington where she was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Global Health. Previously, she directed a program on HIV prevention and treatment in Mozambique. Dr. Johnson left New Mexico in 1998, returning to her home state of Ohio to work in a community health center serving primarily Hispanic immigrants and inner city residents. She completed her undergraduate and medical education at Ohio State University and received her MPH at Johns Hopkins University. She has worked or volunteered on health projects in Mozambique, Vietnam, Cote d’lvoire, Ethiopia, Haiti, and several countries in South America.

Sue LAtz MD, MPH

Medical Director - La Familia Medical Center

"I have stayed at La Familia because it allows me to have a full family practice including prenatal care, well-child, women's care, adult medicine and geriatrics. This family medicine practice has given me wonderful opportunities to know and support families through health and illness – from managing pregnancies to visiting people in nursing homes."

Dr. Katz received her medical training at University of California, San Francisco and her Masters in Public Health at University of California, Berkeley. She recently celebrated her twentieth year at La Familia Medical Center in 2010. Dr. Katz is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Anne Kessler MD

Medical Director - La Familia Medical Center

Dr. Kessler is an American Board certified physician, who specialized in pediatrics. She attended Medical College of Pennsylvania, graduated in 1986 and Ohio State University/College of Medicine. Her special interest is in Pediatrics and is a physician with CHRISTUS Entrada Contenta Health Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Alan Marx has been a provider at La Familia Medical Center since 1990. He received his Physician's Assistant and Nurse Practitioner certification in North Dakota and his MSN from Case Western Reserve University. He has been in Santa Fe since 1984 and has a special interest in diabetes and respiratory disease.

Pachecho Mario

Medical Director - La Familia Medical Center

Dr. Mario Pacheco is a Board Certified family physician. He is the founding director of the Northern New Mexico Family Residency Program; a rural residency training track sponsored Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center and affiliated with The University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine. He is also the first Associate Vice President for Hispanic Health at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. A 1986 graduate of the University Of New Mexico, Dr. Pacheco completed his residency in family medicine at the University of New Mexico Department of Family and community Medicine. He completed a one-year Fellowship in Health of the Public at UNM and subsequently worked as a staff physician at La Familia Medical Center for 10 years.

He is a Policy Fellow and served in the office of United States Senator Jeff Bingaman. He subsequently worked for the New Mexico Department of Health until July 2002 when he resumed the residency directorship at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe. He has authored papers in the fields of U.S. – Mexico Border Health, school-based health, and rural residency training tracks. His main professional interests are improving health services access for rural and uninsured families in New Mexico. Dr. Pacheco is currently a physician at CHRISTIS Pojoaque Primary Care.

Fen Sartorius MD

Dr. Fen Sartorius graduated from the McGill University Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, Canada in 1978. He works in Santa Fe, New Mexico and specializes in Family Medicine. His special interest includes geriatrics and improving overall health to geriatrics. Dr. Sartorius is affiliated with CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center and is a primary care physician at CHRISTUS Rodeo Family Medicine.

Melissa Rosen MD

La Familia Continuity Clinic Site Director

Dr. Rosen graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine seven years ago. She completed her residency through this program and has lived in Santa Fe since 2002. Her special interest is in Women's Health. Dr. Rosen is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Matt Schmidt MD

"I am excited to join an organization that seeks to provide for the healthcare needs of all members of its community. As a primary care physician, I look forward to developing relationships with patients, caring for their whole families and hearing their stories. I have a special interest in working in with pregnant women, children and sports medicine."

Dr. Schmidt received his medical degree from the Kansas University School of Medicine in 2009.  He completed his residency at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon in 2012.

Jennifer Simpson-Manske MD

"I have been working to overcome my own sedentary habits and added swimming, biking and running to my already full family life. I have been trying to encourage my patients to make exercise part of their daily life."

Dr. Simpson-Manske received her medical education at Vanderbilt University Medical School and did her residency in Family Medicine in New York at the University of Rochester. She has been practicing since 1996 years including eight years at Gallup Indian Medical Center. Dr. Simpson-Manske has a special interest in Women's Health and Obstetrical care. She has been in Santa Fe since 2007.

Dr. Sinnott graduated from the University of Iowa Medical School with a Medical Degree. Dr. Sinnott did her intern at Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners in Grand Rapids, MI and attended Mayo Clinic Family Medicine Training Program in Rochester, MN – family medicine residency.
