WHITEHOUSE, TX – After months of construction and thanks to a generous and significant donation by the Ornelas family, the new HealthPark - Herrington-Ornelas opens to the public and patients of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System on November 14. The new facility, located near the intersection of Grande Blvd. and Hwy 110 in Tyler, is the largest HealthPark of its kind in the System, and offers advanced facilities providing the highest quality of care and increased access to needed health care services in Southern Smith County.
Construction on the multi-physician HealthPark began in February of this year, and the 43,500 square foot facility will open ahead of schedule featuring primary care services, extended hours, and extensive laboratory and imaging services to expand access to needed medical care to patients in the region. Also included in the site are an Urgent Care clinic, Physical Therapy services, an Eye Center and the largest Health and Fitness Center and accompanying swimming pool in the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. There will also be space dedicated to future growth, with the ability to add further specialties, such as Sleep Medicine, in the future.
“Through our existing CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic and community involvement, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System has played a large role in the Whitehouse community for many years,” said Lindsey Bradley, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer for CHRISTUS Northeast Texas and Senior Vice President of Group Operations for CHRISTUS Health. “The HealthPark - Herrington-Ornelas is part of our long-term plan to better serve the people who live in Whitehouse and southern Smith County.”
Until the opening of this HealthPark, patients sought care at CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic - Whitehouse, located at 601 N. Hwy 110. As of this opening, the health care providers and patients will relocate, and all previously scheduled tests, appointments and consultations will remain in place at the new location.
“The number of patients we serve from Whitehouse and that area of Tyler and the surrounding areas has continued to grow over the last several years. We recognized the need to bring a wider array of health care to this community,” said Chris Glenney, FACHE, Acting Chief Operating Officer, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. “The location is easily accessible and has space to expand should that need arise in the future.”
“This 43,000 square-foot facility can house up to 12 Primary Care providers, with accompanying Advance Practice Providers,” said Scott Smith, M.D., Senior Vice President, CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic. “Because it is the goal of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System to always seek innovation and to improve upon our award-winning services, the new Health Park - Herrington-Ornelas has also incorporated design changes and an exam room experience based on feedback and research from best practices for medical offices across the nation.”
The Family Medicine clinic at HealthPark – Herrington-Ornelas will open with five family medicine providers on staff, with another who will be starting at the first of the year, and it will be open Monday through Friday, from 7am until 5pm. The Urgent Care center will be open Monday through Friday from 8am until 8pm and from 9am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
“We are also incredibly excited about the Health and Fitness Center,” said Aaron Bauder, CSCS, USAW, ACSM, General Manager of the Health and Fitness Centers for CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. “There will truly be nothing like it available in East Texas. There are the 25-meter, heated, saltwater lap pool; an indoor track; group fitness classes; swim classes and lessons; and state-of-the-art Technogym Equipment. The Technogym equipment really opens up some incredibly opportunities for cooperative workouts, weight loss, tracking and planning workouts, and so much more – all stored on the cloud – it’s really exciting. And, of course, everything is wired for internet access and television screens.”
“The HealthPark - Herrington-Ornelas was designed to be a modern adaptation of the heritage found in CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic locations throughout Northeast Texas. It will have a positive impact on the patient’s experience when they make the choice to trust us with their health care,” said Steven Keuer, M.D., the System’s Chief Medical Officer and President, CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic. “Thanks to the generous donation of the Ornelas family, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System will be able to build upon our System goal to expand access to Primary Care services for Northeast Texans while also showing our commitment to meet our patients where they are and to meet their health care needs today and in the years to come.”
