TYLER, TX – MyChart, the online patient portal serving the patients of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System, has surpassed 100,000 active users across Northeast Texas who seek access to appointment scheduling, physician communication, test results and more.
“MyChart is a free service that provides a secure, private connection to your medical information and health care providers,” said Scott Smith, M.D., Senior Vice President and Institute Chief, Primary Care, for CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. “MyChart improves coordination of care for you and your family by giving you direct online access to information from your electronic medical record and allowing for seamless communication and access to your health care providers and services. It is, quite simply, the most convenient and direct way to handle a lot of the business of managing your health.”
With MyChart, you can schedule an appointment, request prescription refills, send and receive messages for your CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic providers, pay your bill, review your health records, and more. Some locations are offering eVisits through MyChart.
“We take great care to ensure your health information is kept private and secure,” said David Gano, Senior Engineer, Performance Improvement, at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. “Access to information is controlled through secure activation codes, personal ID's and passwords. Each person controls all access to their account and their information. Additionally, MyChart uses the latest, cutting-edge 128-bit SSL encryption technology with no caching to automatically encrypt your session with MyChart. Unlike conventional e-mail, all MyChart messaging is done while you are securely logged on to our website.”
MyChart information comes directly from ConnectCARE, the system’s electronic medical record. Patients who wish to participate in MyChart are issued an activation code during their clinic visit or on their discharge papers from their hospital stay. This code enables them to login and create a unique user ID and password.
MyChart offers more than simply convenience – it allows patients to take an active role in not only getting treatment when they are sick, but in managing their health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
“Promoting patient engagement and patient data access is central to Epic’s technology strategy, said Judy Faulkner, CEO of Epic Systems, at this year’s HIMSS Conference and Exhibition. “The MyChart portal, already a popular tool, now allows deeper integration across providers, so that patients get a comprehensive view of their basic information, including medications, upcoming appointments, allergies and problems ... Reaching those individuals, both clinicians and consumers, is key to helping patients take control of their own health.”
