TYLER, TX – Area athletes ages 7-16 will have the chance to learn speed and agility skills from John Tyler Lion and Carolina Panthers player Teddy Williams during the first annual “Fast Like Teddy” Speed and Agility Camp on June 18 at John Tyler High School.
“This camp is a great opportunity for young people to learn technique and gain motivation from one of the best athletes in the National Football League,” said James Rapp, MS, ATC, LAT, Director of Sports Medicine at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. “The East Texas area has a rich athletic tradition, and a huge part of that is due to leaders like Teddy Williams passing on their knowledge and skills to the next generation. CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System has always been invested in our communities, and we are incredibly proud to be involved with this camp and to be able to help out the young athletes in our area.”
“Learning the proper technique early on is key to achieving your goals later –both on and off the field,” said Williams. “When you put time and effort into the right things today, it puts you on the path to success down the road. My coaches at John Tyler taught me that, and it held true in college and in the NFL. I’m excited to be able to bring that knowledge back to my hometown and the athletes here.”
The Fast Like Teddy Speed and Agility Camp will be held from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at John Tyler High School. It is presented free of charge, and all athletes will receive lunch and an official “Fast Like Teddy” t-shirt.
