CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Announces Canton Emergency Room Expansion February 19, 2019

Canton, TX – Round-the-clock emergency care will soon be available at Canton Healthpark. CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System made the exciting announcement on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Canton City Hall during the city’s council meeting. Also, unveiled, the first images of the expansion and tentative timeline for construction.

The new facility will encompass 7,650 square feet and serve as a full-scale emergency department and be located onsite at the HealthPark, conveniently located just off of Interstate 20 near the exit for Edgewood Road. It will also feature six exam rooms, one trauma room, a full-service imaging center including advanced imaging services and a laboratory for easier access to test results. It will be staffed with certified Emergency Medicine physicians and nurses, who will join the specialty providers in cardiac, orthopedics, sleep and oncology that already see patients the HealthPark. The facility also contains CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic primary care providers, physical therapy suite, and the health and fitness center.

We have added to this facility over time, increasing our footprint here in 2006, and today we are excited to announce the next step – emergency care available 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year.”

CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System has continued to be a major driver of economic development in Canton and Van Zandt County.

“The new facility will also add jobs, reinforcing CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances’ commitment to the growth of the Canton area,” said Chris Glenney, FACHE, Senior Vice President of Group Operations, CHRISTUS Health, Chief Executive Officer, CHRISTUS Health Northeast Texas. “With this new facility, we will have 100 Associates onsite, adding emergency medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses and staff to a skilled team already in place.”

Officials said that CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System will move forward immediately with the processes to obtain all required permitting to begin construction over the next 30-60 days. During this time, patients and visitors to CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances HealthPark - Canton will continue with uninterrupted service.

“We have a strategic plan on how to expand this area to a full emergency department while continuing to provide urgent care services to the people of this area,” said Proctor. “We will continue to have services while this is all going on, and we expect construction to be completed in roughly one year.”
