Third Annual “Muscles For Miracles” Powerlifting Event to be held October 19 October 14, 2019

Tyler, Texas – Athletes from all over Texas will come together on October 19, to compete in a dead lift and bench press competition to raise funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network.

“It takes hours in the gym each week for dedicated athletes to prepare for a powerlifting competition,” said Christina Mosier, Program Manager for CMN. “While some are capable of lifting several hundred pounds, their strength pales in comparison to the determination of the tiny pediatric patients as they fight for their lives in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler.”

That is why, three years ago, a group of dedicated athletes founded the annual Muscles For Miracles event to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and pediatric healthcare in Northeast Texas. Their moto has always been, “Lift Heavy to Lighten Their Burdens.”

Participating athletes will gather at Milestone Lifestyle Fitness in Tyler on October 19, to compete in the weightlifting competition. Awards will go to the top three competitors from each weight class, for both men and women. Competitors can register by visiting or in person at Milestone Liftestyle Fitness. The lifting competition begins at 9:00 a.m., and the event is open to spectators for a $5 entrance fee.

“Sigma Alpha Epsilon from the University of Texas at Tyler will play an instrumental part in helping to promote and run the event,” said Jamil Tharp, SAE President. “Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is our fraternity’s national philanthropy, so helping facilitate a weightlifting event that benefits children is a natural fit. We are excited to be a part of it and know that the strength of East Texas will be ready show up!”

As with all CMN events in Tyler, 100% of competitor fees, sponsorships and spectator fees go towards helping kids who are sick or injured in our community. For more information, please contact Christina Mosier at 903-606-3863.
