A Toast to East Texas Events Cancelled for 2020
March 23, 2020
In the interest of public health and out of an abundance of caution, the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Foundation and the Foundation Women’s Board have made the difficult decision to cancel all nine parties planned for A Toast to East Texas 2020. Scheduled to begin with Boots & Bling on Saturday, April 4, the nine unique parties hosted by members from the community were to continue through May 15. This year’s donations go to support the Foundation Women’s Board project, The Violet Door Project, the expansion and renovation of The Birth Center at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler.
The decision was supported by CHRISTUS Health and CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System leadership in collaboration with numerous local, regional and state officials who agreed that taking such a precaution to protect our most vulnerable populations potential COVID-19 transmission was the prudent choice.
“The safety and well-being of our East Texas community is our top priority, and after careful consideration it’s clear, this is the best course of action,” said Robin Rowan, Foundation Executive Director.
“This is not a decision that has been made lightly,” said Carmen Carpenter, 2020 Women’s Board Co-Chair. “The Foundation Women’s Board has worked tirelessly to organize these parties, generous patrons in the community have sponsored and there was great excitement as the nine party themes were revealed on February 27,” she exclaimed.
“As a health care system, it is our Mission to extend Jesus’ healing ministry, and we feel that by rescheduling for 2021 we are being proactive,” remarked Co-Chair Heather Bates. “We are very blessed that the majority of our 2020 party hosts have already agreed to move their events to 2021,” she said.
The Women’s Board is a fundraising arm of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Foundation. The group of 22 women raise funds annually to support women’s and children’s projects of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.
