CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic - Athens Expands Family Medicine Practice May 5, 2021

Athens, TX – Patients will have expanded treatment options and see familiar faces as the practice of James Qualls, D.O, FAAFP; Karah Coker, M.D.; and Brandi Jones, FNP join the team at CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic - Athens.

“Dr. Qualls, Dr. Coker and Ms. Jones all share a commitment to the wellness of this community and the patients they serve,” said Holly Robinson, Manager, CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic - Athens. “They have a history here, and the people of East Texas know them and trust in their care. Dr. Qualls is an East Texas native, growing up in Whitehouse before attending Tyler Junior College and then Baylor University. He earned his medical degree at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed Family Medicine Residency in Waco, returning to East Texas with his family in 2013.

“I enjoy my broad Family Medicine practice, caring for newborn children to geriatric patients,” said Dr. Qualls. “I know I speak for all of us when I say we are very excited to be a part of CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic - Athens, and we look forward to helping the community through our service.”

Dr. Coker received her undergraduate training at Mississippi College and medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She is a member of both the American and Texas Academy of Family Physicians. Outside of her practice, Dr. Coker enjoys running half and full marathons, biking, hunting, fishing, sewing, playing the piano and spending time with her family.

“I work very hard to treat all of my patients like they are my own family,” said Dr. Coker. “That means listening, working together – as partners – to provide them with care and understanding to get them through illness or manage chronic conditions.”

Jones graduated from Walden University, earning her license as a Family Nurse Practitioner after beginning her career as a registered nurse with more than 12 years of clinical experience. Jones has worked in both hospital and outpatient settings, from Labor and Delivery to elementary schools and even home health services.

“As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I have the great opportunity collaborate with a team of fantastic providers and clinical staff to find the best possible treatment and care plan for our patients,” said Jones. “I draw on a wide range of experiences that help me connect with patients of all ages and backgrounds, and I love being able to apply that in a setting where those personal connections can make a difference in someone’s health and wellbeing.”
