Our Approach

Physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, also known as physiatrists, are medical doctors with expertise in the function of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, including the brain, spine and nerves. They treat pain and injuries and illnesses that affect the movement of the body, including spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, neck pain, low back pain and pinched nerves. The physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Neuroscience Institute have a strong focus on conservative spine care.

Dedicated psychiatrists for your care

Rather than focusing on one symptom or condition, our physiatrists look at disease in the context of the whole person, including family and social relationships. As the gatekeepers for patients who come to the Neuroscience Institute for the treatment of pain, we provide evaluation, diagnosis and direction of treatment for an array of disorders, finding the cause of the pain and developing an appropriate plan of care.

Known for the personal attention we provide our patients, we work closely with pain medicine specialists, neurologists and neurosurgeons to deliver care in a clinically integrated environment. Treatment of new patients always starts with the most conservative approach. Throughout diagnosis and treatment, we stay focused on evidence-based medicine that guides us toward the best possible outcomes and improves the quality of life of our patients.
