Tyler, Texas – CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Tyler is now taking donations for their Child Life Program, which helps kids cope with the difficulty of being in a hospital setting. Child Life is fully funded by donations to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and is the only one of its kind in Northeast Texas.

Donations of NEW, unwrapped, kid friendly items can be dropped off at the Main Entrance A at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Tyler (800 E. Dawson).

“Being in the hospital can be really difficult for kids; away from home, their friends and families. We rely on community support to make the holidays a little brighter for our pediatric patients,” said Christina Mosier, Manager, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The donation drive will last through Christmas and the community is asked to bring items such as coloring books, crayons, pop-its, play doh, small Lego sets, and craft kits.

“Play is important to normalize the hospital environment and help kids cope with the difficult things we have to do to help them get better,” said Katie Maxwell, Certified Child Life Specialist with CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances. “Things like Legos, coloring books, and other small toys not only help pass the time, but they allow kids to just be kids, even when they are away from home.”
