CHRISTUS Health's physicians, residents, nurses, pharmacists and other allied healthcare professionals work on innovative solutions to complex problems in a wide range of clinical disciplines, and collaborate with industry, federal government, and other academic institutions to provide evidence-based research results and generalizable knowledge, which positively and directly impact patient outcomes. Through an innovative, hub-and-spoke, clinical research delivery model spanned across its widespread geographic regions, the CHRISTUS Institute for Innovation and Advanced Clinical Care (CIIACC) offers patient-centered, ethically sound, and financially responsible clinical research participation opportunities to patients even in the most remote communities where we serve.
Being cognizant of the increasing dearth of physician workforce across the nation, especially in the rural communities, CHRISTUS Health has pledged to serve as a recognized and leading training ground for graduate medical education of >200 talented and diverse trainees annually over the decades. Our devoted faculty provide optimal learning environment for experiential learning, inquiry, research, scholarship and academic excellence to prepare the next generation of physicians. To promote all-rounded wellness, well-balanced development, and holistic growth, we remain committed to providing our trainees with top-notch resources and superior curriculum for their physical, nutritional, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual health. Texas A&M University serves as the Academic Affiliate Partner for our GME programs.
As a visionary health system, we believe that it is our social responsibility to make significant contributions for pipeline development of future, best in class, clinical workforce. As such, we offer an open-arm approach with open doors for in-situ clinical education opportunities across CHRISTUS Health for aspiring students from leading academic institutions, such as medical students, nurses, advanced practice practitioners, social workers, phlebotomists, medical assistants, sonographers, etc. While earning academic course credit(s) towards their degree requirements, the students may expect to gain highly enriched experiential clinical learning and practicums during their approved clinical placements or rotations under the direct preceptorship of integrated care team of experts at CHRISTUS Health.
Our interdisciplinary, multi-regional, state-of-the-art Simulation Institute allows us to replicate real-world healthcare scenarios in a blame-free environment, which is safe for hands-on education and experimentation purposes, without putting actual patients at risk. Furthermore, our clinical simulation centers strengthen our commitment to be a resilient High Reliability Organization (HRO) by helping to improve reliability, regulatory compliance, patient safety and quality outcomes. As community partners, we also offer our simulation centers at all facilities to other healthcare and academic institutions for delivery of courses, educational opportunities, and as a conference site.
Health Sciences Library Services play a critical leadership role in ensuring that the clinical workforce at CHRISTUS Health have reliable access to the most current medical literature and best available evidence. Our service offerings include multiple brick-and-mortar Health Science Libraries. In addition to that, we offer a multitude of online tools at fingertips such as Wolters Kluwer UpToDate, and EBSCO Health’s Nursing Reference Center Plus. Other literature research tools such as PubMed Central and Google Scholar are available in public domain to aid the literature research activities effectively.
