Shreveport, Louisiana – CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital (CBEH) celebrated its fifth year of operations today with a Prayer Service and special recognition of staff who helped open the 25,000-square-foot facility in 2018.

For CHRISTUS, the facility is a milestone and foundation for expansion in the growing Bossier market. Anchored by a 24-hour, nine-bed, full service emergency room, the hospital is also equipped with six short-stay inpatient beds used for patients that require admission directly from the ER or from their physician’s office for additional treatment and diagnosis.

In addition to our emergency trained physicians in the Emergency Department, CHRISTUS Health is proud to work in concert with Dr. Will Maranto and his practice partners at Bossier Family Medicine who serve as inpatient hospitalists. The facility also features outpatient service for laboratory and radiology, so patients, again, can come straight from their physician office to have lab testing, X-ray, MRI, C.T., digital mammography and ultrasound.

“Our commitment to Bossier is strong. Since opening in 2018, new services have been added, including the liver multiscan MRI to assist in diagnosing fatty liver disease. We also offer the only cancer care in Bossier in our adjacent Healthplex building,” said Jennifer Varnadore, Administrator of CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital. “And we are thrilled to mark such an important milestone with the addition of new services this spring, including bone density testing and inpatient hospice and palliative care services.”

From the day CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital opened its doors through 2022, the facility has seen more than 75,000 ER visits, 1,600 inpatients and 6,000 ambulance arrivals. Outpatient services performed during that same time period include nearly 7,000 CT scans, more than 4,000 MRI scans and over 5,800 utlrasounds, among other outpatient services.

“These numbers clearly show there is a need here in Bossier City and beyond,” said Dr. Steen Trawick, CEO of CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System. “The hospital was purposely built in the most growing corridor of our community, in the center of our busy lives and where we live and work. We are so grateful for the community’s response as we live out our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by providing these much needed services.”

CBEH was also nominated as Bossier Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year in 2020.
