CHRISTUS Health announces Reuben Murray as CEO of CHRISTUS Southern New Mexico
9/10/2025
CHRISTUS Health announced today that Reuben Murray has been named chief executive officer of CHRISTUS Southern New Mexico after serving in the role as interim since spring.
Murray’s connection to Alamogordo is deeply personal. His father, an Air Force service member, was last stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, where the Murray family spent six years.
A proud graduate of Alamogordo High School (Alamo Tigers class of 1981), Reuben has long considered this community a meaningful part of his journey. His wife Sharon (class of 1980), was born in Alamogordo and still has family in the area.
“This community is part of my story,” Murray said. “To be invited back in this way—leading an organization filled with compassionate, mission-driven people—is both a professional honor and a personal gift. I see this role as a chance to support our caregivers, strengthen partnerships and help ensure every person who walks through our doors receives the care, dignity and respect they deserve.”
Murray brings 17 years of health care experience to his new role. Prior to his appointment, he served as chief financial officer for CHRISTUS St. Vincent Health System in Santa Fe, overseeing two hospitals and a large medical group. He is recognized for his strategic and operational leadership as well as for improving systems and strengthening collaboration across teams.
His previous leadership roles span multiple hospitals within the Lovelace Health System, including Lovelace Medical Center, Lovelace Women’s Hospital, Lovelace Westside Hospital and Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital. Across these organizations, he led initiatives to improve financial performance, patient experience and team engagement.
“We are here to serve,” said Murray. “Health care is most effective when it’s personal and close to home, when it reflects the culture and values of the people it touches. I’m proud to work alongside such a dedicated team, and I look forward to the amazing opportunities that the future holds for our deserving community."
As CEO, Murray will focus on fostering a strong and supportive culture for associates and providers, building trust with patients and families, and ensuring that CHRISTUS Southern New Mexico continues to deliver high-quality, accessible care across the region.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Reuben to Alamogordo on a permanent basis as CEO, and we are grateful for his strong leadership,” said Norm Arnold Jr., CHRISTUS Health Southern New Mexico’s board chair. “A hallmark of Reuben’s success so far is his commitment to Associate and physician engagement. He’ll bring that same focus to Otero County as he works to engage area residents in support of our hospital as we deliver the high-quality care they expect and deserve.”
