Meet Joel Houghton, FNP-BC

At CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, Joel Houghton, NP, provides expert-level care and a compassionate, patient-centered approach. Specializing in family medicine, he cares for patients of all ages, focusing on preventive care, chronic disease management, nutrition, and pain management.

He believes that strong relationships play a huge role in your health journey. He takes the time to understand your complete health history and works together to find solutions and create care plans that address your needs. His approach emphasizes patient education, prevention, and shared decision-making, empowering patients to take an active role in their long-term health.

He earned his first bachelor's degree from Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in kinesiology, where he went on to coach football, basketball, and soccer at schools in DFW.  After years of guiding and helping kids to be active and find their passions, he pursued a second bachelor's degree in nursing from Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. With the experience he received in hospital environments and critical care, he went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing.

Outside of the clinic, Joel enjoys fishing, cooking and reading to keep himself active. He has quite a repertoire of dad jokes available for most occasions.
