Joel Massey, MD

About
Dr. Massey is dual board-certified in family medicine and general preventive medicine and public health. He has additional training in rural, international, tropical, and travel medicine, and is a certified specialist in HIV medicine. A native Texan, he has served in varied healthcare roles throughout his career. He provided pandemic response leadership as the regional medical director at the Texas Department of State Health Services public health region 2/3 office in Arlington. Previously, he served at the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health, Division of Infectious Disease Epidemiology as a CDC-assigned Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer. He also served as the Non-Communicable Disease Specialist for Yap State Hospital in Micronesia. Prior to this, he spent ten years on active duty in the United States Air Force, including a year of rural health system development in Afghanistan. He offers a full-spectrum primary care perspective to local, regional, state, national, and global public health.
