Meet Maximiliano Magallanes, MD

Dr. Maximiliano Magallanes is a general surgeon at CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic in Corpus Christi, TX. His clinical interests and surgical specialties include General Surgery, Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery, and Bariatric Surgery. He earned his M.D. from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and holds a B.S. in Neurobiology with Honors from The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Magallanes is deeply committed to patient-centered care. He believes, “It is important to offer the right surgery to the right patient. It is equally important to keep the patient and their family updated on their loved one's care.” He values open communication between patients and the entire healthcare team, ensuring that every individual feels informed and supported throughout their surgical journey.

A recognized leader, Dr. Magallanes served as the General Surgery Ombudsman and has participated in several leadership initiatives, including the LEAD in Surgery program and the Johnson & Johnson Institute’s Future Leader Resident Program. His dedication to equity and mentorship is reflected in his roles with the Latino Medical Student Association and various community health programs.

He has contributed to numerous academic presentations and publications, focusing on robotic surgery, colorectal procedures, and the impact of social determinants of health on surgical outcomes. His research has been featured at national conferences such as ASCRS and SAGES.

Dr. Magallanes is a recipient of the General Surgery Resident of the Year Award and has been inducted into both the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Magallanes enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog, Charlie. He has a passion for book collecting and is an avid sports fan especially during football season. He also enjoys watching tennis championships and attending baseball games.
