Meet Nathan Sewell, APRN, FNP-C
Nathan Sewell, FNP, is a family nurse practitioner specializing in gastroenterology at CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic in Tyler, Texas. He brings a deep commitment to patient‑centered care, shaped by nearly two decades of nursing experience in critical care and home health care.
Nathan’s path into health care began in Central Texas, where he earned his Associate Degree in Nursing from Temple College in 2007. He built a strong clinical foundation working in critical care in Tyler and later expanded his training during the COVID‑19 pandemic. Motivated by a desire to further support patients in crisis, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Tyler, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing in 2025. He is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board and holds his APRN license through the Texas Board of Nursing. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Over his 10 years in critical care and 9 years in home health care, Nathan cultivated a deep compassion for patients facing serious health challenges. He describes this time as crucial in shaping his mission as a provider — to educate, empower, and accompany patients and families through moments of uncertainty.
Nathan’s approach to care centers on intentional health maintenance, prevention, and the building of strong patient-provider relationships. He believes that people thrive when they are informed, educated, and equipped to understand their bodies and the conditions they may face. While his clinical focus is gastroenterology, he practices with a holistic lens, considering the whole person — body, mind, spirit, and emotional well‑being. He credits his critical care background with strengthening his belief that healthcare should be investigative, evidence-based, and centered on understanding root causes, not just managing symptoms.
At CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, Nathan collaborates closely with his supervising physician, Dr. Ruchir Patel, and the multidisciplinary GI team to provide thoughtful, coordinated care. His goal is to help each patient feel supported, informed, and confident in their health journey.
Outside of work, Nathan has a rich life rooted in faith, family, and culture. He loves traveling, learning new languages, and exploring food traditions from around the world. His family previously served as missionaries in South Korea, a nation that remains close to their hearts. Nathan is actively involved in worship ministry and enjoys playing guitar and singing in church. He and his wife share a passion for adoption and were blessed to welcome their son into their family in 2024 — now one of five beloved siblings.
Through every aspect of his life and work, Nathan is guided by compassion, connection, and a desire to care for the community he proudly serves.
